The Aspen Institute: UpSkilling Playbook for Employers

UpSkill America has a three-part mission:

• Recognize employers that provide expanded career opportunities for their workers.
• Promote the adoption of business policies and practices that increase opportunity.
• Highlight effective local and regional workforce development partnerships and how they educate, train, and develop individuals for success in the workplace.

This Upskilling Playbook is designed to highlight examples of employers modeling new ways of business that advance workers and support long-term business competitiveness via investments in workers through upskilling strategies. It is not meant to be a comprehensive listing but to provide examples and information that help illustrate a range of strategies and information to help you consider how to implement upskilling in your company context. Our hope is that this playbook will inform a broader national conversation about sustainable jobs and expanding opportunity and will help you learn about how you can invest in and promote economic opportunity and career growth for your workers while benefiting your company at the same time.
