Promising Practices: Collaborating with Industry and Workforce Development Partners in IET Programs
About
Promising Practices for Collaborating with Industry and Workforce Development Partners in Integrated Education and Training (IET) Programs highlights how IET program providers can collaborate with industry and workforce development organizations to establish IET program design with learner-worker training or work-based learning opportunities.
IET programs combine adult education and literacy activities with workforce preparation and training. By integrating these three components, IET programs can accelerate learning and support adult learners as they advance along their career pathways, transitioning to postsecondary education and obtaining good jobs.
The report explains two program design strategies--learner-worker training and work-based learning--that can be implemented in combination with the supporting strategies of strategic co-enrollment in WIOA Title I and Title II and the use of alternative assessments that align with workers' career goals.
Examples from Idaho, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Texas are included.
This report is the third publication in a six-part series, IET Strategies in Action, intended to provide adult educators with a snapshot of the ways in which some IET programs have implemented promising practices to serve diverse learner populations in a variety of settings.
